Well today I’m breaking a Stampin Up demonstrators “un-written rule,” I’m using retired products on my card and writing about it in my blog. For shame BUT I have a great tip for you. The Occasions catalog products are available during January and the last day to purchase them is on March 31 – but Father’s Day is in June! I didn’t want to make my card too early because surely I would have misplaced it. So, here’s my card that uses the retired Truly Tailored stamp set and the True Gentleman designer series paper :
True story: My Dad wears plaid western shirts everyday. Yes, EVERYDAY and they must have 2 pockets and snaps – no shirt buttons! So when the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper was released during Occasions I just HAD to have it for his birthday card (in March) and then Father’s Day. That’s why I’m breaking tradition and blogging about a card that uses retired product, BUT the Tailored Tag Punch and the cardstocks are still available.
DIY TIPS, TRICKS & REMINDERS:
Just when I had made my Dad’s Father’s Day card I flipped it over to stamp my signature on the back of the card and the inside touched my Tranquil Tide ink pad which was still open. UGHHH! It smeared on the inside of the card. Well, I always say, boo-boos are just “opportunities for embellishments.” Except this was a BIG opportunity. (I wish I had taken a picture to show you.) Anyway, this is how I fixed it:
- I added a strip of designer series paper to cover up the ink smears. What do you think? I’m sharing that secret with you and no one else.
- Tip #2: I wanted to add a sentiment to the inside of my card but didn’t have any Father’s Day sentiments. I used my Microsoft Word program, set at 2 columns and typed my verse (4 fit to a page) then used my stampin trimmer to cut it out and adhered it inside my card. Oh, I also used Google to search for, “Father’s Day Greetings” and found many. It was easy.
- I punched out 2 tags, one in Tranquil Tide and another in Night of Navy and cut them in half (horizontal) to layer behind the tailored tag stamped with the word “Dad.”
